November 2025 Newsletter
Reflecting on food, dignity, and humanity.
Dear Friends:
As the holiday season approaches, I want to share my gratitude—for our students, our volunteers, our staff, our donors, and for you, the community that makes this work possible.
Last year, we launched the Petey Greene Program’s 2024–28 Strategic Plan—a roadmap for growth and national impact. This year, we’ve begun to see that plan in action:
Expanding our tutoring programs both behind the walls and in our communities
Building our youth programs
Strengthening pathways to college and careers through our College Bridge Program
Connecting research with real-world change via the Puttkammer Center for Educational Justice.
As we gather with loved ones this season, I invite you to reflect on the power of education to transform lives. I hope you’ll continue to walk alongside us as we build toward our 20th anniversary in 2028—a milestone that will mark not just years of service, but a national movement for justice through learning.
Warm wishes for a peaceful and joyful holiday season,
Jeffrey Abramowitz,
CEO, The Petey Greene Program
Food Justice Behind Bars
The Petey Greene Program is committed to supporting educational journeys for incarcerated individuals, but food justice is integral to this mission. Food insecurity impacts learning, health, and dignity, both inside and outside prison walls. If you missed our September Justice Education Series webinar, “Chew on This: Food Justice Behind Bars,” you can still watch the recording and learn how addressing these issues can transform lives and communities.
