WE WILL SEND NOTIFICATION TO RUNNERS SELECTED FOR THE TEAM ON APRIL 10, 2026.

We are accepting applications for the Philadelphia Marathon on a rolling basis.

The Petey Greene Program is proud to be an official charity partner of New York Road Runners for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon! The iconic course runs through all of New York City’s boroughs and we’re thrilled that the PGP will be represented on this impactful and celebratory day. Through this partnership, we provide runners with the opportunity to make their 26.2 miles meaningful and support the academic goals of currently and formerly incarcerated learners through high-quality volunteer tutoring and other educational programming.

Founded in 2008, PGP supports the academic goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs, while educating volunteers on the injustice manifest in our carceral system and encouraging them to engage in justice-oriented activism to reimagine the criminal legal system. The PGP operates the largest multi-state volunteer tutoring program for currently and formerly incarcerated people.

2026 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend

The Petey Greene Program is proud to be an official charity partner of the 2026 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend! The beautiful, fast and scenic course takes athletes past historic landmarks, through urban neighborhoods, and along Philadelphia’s picturesque waterfronts. Join over 30,000 athletes on race weekend! All courses are USATF certified and the Philadelphia Marathon is a Boston qualifier event. Through this partnership, we provide runners with the opportunity to make their miles meaningful and support the academic goals of currently and formerly incarcerated learners through high-quality volunteer tutoring and other educational programming.

As a member of the Petey Greene Program’s team, you will receive: 

  • Paid registration and bib for one of the three races on Marathon Weekend: Rothman Orthopaedics 8K, Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, or Philadelphia Marathon

  • Fundraising assistance and tips from PGP staff

  • Creative access to your own fundraising page

  • Official PGP team running shirt and other swag

  • Prerace or postrace gift card for a dinner of your choice 

  • Prerace and race day support from the PGP cheering section

As a member of the Petey Greene Program’s team, you will: 

  • Commit to the fundraising minimum for your race by October 31, 2026 (Rothman Orthopaedics 8K - min. $500; Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon - min. $1,000; Philadelphia Marathon - min. $1,500)

  • Sign an agreement confirming your understanding of the terms of your participation

  • Notify friends and family of your participation in the 2026 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend with the Petey Greene Program via conversation, email, and social media

  • Run or walk in the spirit of the PGP’s mission and values!

If you are interested in joining the PGP’s Marathon Weekend team, please submit this application by Wednesday, July 1!  We will accept applications on a rolling basis until all bibs are assigned. We will review the applications the first week of each month and respond to all applicants at that time.
