Kaya Ceci
Regional Manager, Philadelphia
kceci@peteygreene.org

Kaya joined the Petey Greene Program as the Philadelphia Regional Manager with over a decade of experience supporting the educational and vocational goals of system-impacted youth around the country. Most recently, she managed federal workforce development grants across a network of community-based organizations providing reentry support to formerly incarcerated young adults.

A low-income scholarship kid turned licensed social worker, Kaya's journey to transmute her childhood trauma into medicine for herself and others was made possible by the opportunities granted through her education. Understanding the mechanisms by which poverty is manufactured, maintained, and criminalized in this country fueled her pursuit to form transformational relationships with families in the oppressive clutches of the child welfare and criminal legal systems. Through passionate advocacy, evidence-based clinical intervention, and trauma-informed program delivery for youth and practitioners alike, she has dedicated her career to disrupting cycles of intergenerational harm and uplifting hope, healing, and opportunity in their place.

As a lifelong learner, she believes in the liberatory potential of education to achieve this. She participates in DEIB workshops with the Culture of Respect, policy advocacy with the Abolitionist Law Center, and letter writing with the Compassionate Prison Project. These experiences and all those she stands to gain during her time at PGP will catalyze the transformational justice work she aims to do in Philly and beyond!
